    I tried a tight and a wide composition, but one had too much going on (wide) and the other gave no real feeling to what it was. So this is something in between, which has both context and depth.

    I like the close focus on this one. I think it's better to have the eye drawn up the stairs getting slowly out of focus.

    This one was really helpful in that there was nothing behind it. So I was able to drown out the background and make it go black with a little boost of the contrast. The detail in the flowers and stalks is amazing.

    This is why I want a Nikon D3s. I don't want all of that noise in the background of the sky at a "reasonable" ISO of 1600! And yes, a tripod would solve this issue.
